It had no bids whilst the auction period was open and I could not get John to reply to my enquiry via eBay so assumed it had not sold, what would happen to it, cut up and scrapped crossed my mind.
Oh no, not that.
There were 6 more photo's on the eBay page which I reproduce here (courtesy the owner & eBay)

Current DVLA information 1/10/2013
The vehicle details for Ashley - DAL 739C are not kept by the DVLA
The lack of registration records indicate that the car has not been registered since the late 1970's when the UK car registration paper records were computerised.
It was not until September 2012 when I contacted
The Fairthorpe Sports Car Club
to introduce this website that I received an email from Chris, an FSCC member, he had seen my site before and it turns out that he is also
the purchaser of this Ashley 1172 - DAL739C.
Chris has undertaken a full restoration, including construction of a
new 3" Tubular chassis in the style of a Bellamy/Tornado/Elva, etc.
and it will have TR4 running gear from a car he bought as a donor, the TR4 is too rotten to rebuild so the mechanics will go into the Ashley.
The new chassis will have an integral roll cage and be a bit stronger
than a Ford Popular/Prefect.

He also directed me to his photo display so that I can use some on this page, these are shown above in the slide show.
I hope to add more as the restoration progresses.

I believe that the Ashley has been in storage for most of 2013's summer awaiting time at the fibreglass shop to build a new
bulkhead and inner tub also his workshop is undergoing a major rebuild so its all on hold at present.
Meanwhile if anyone has details of the cars builder or the first 25 years of it's life before John's Dad got it and began his rebuild I would like to hear from you, email or use this sites contact page to send a message.
