1959/60 Ashley 1172
Registration No. KEB 204
I have no photo's of this Ashley 1172 but I do know that it had a
Red body in 1970 and would have looked similar to the photo above.
I have not found any Current DLVA Registration Information so must assume it is know longer registered, I guess it might be in someone's backyard or old barn, but more likely scrapped.
This car was seen by Trevor Pyman, (a very keen cyclist, car enthusiast and contributor to these Ashley websites),
back on 7th April 1970 in "Lakes End", near Wisbech, Cambridgeshire.
He saw it whilst cycling along the A1101 towards Wisbech
the car was sat to the side of a driveway by the road edge.
It was sat on its belly with no wheels or even axles,
his guess was that it was awaiting collection by the scrap man.
Strangely 14 years later in March 1984 he was driving along the same stretch of road and about a mile down the road saw across the flat Fenland fields an Ashley parked in what looked like a scrap yard,
he didn't investigate further but doubted very much if it was the same car, as this one was on wheels.
Even stranger 31 years later still, on 30th January 2015, on
"Odd's Oracle" a photo was posted by "Odd".

I contacted "Odd" to get some details of the Ashley shell,
not at that stage linking it to Trevor's sightings
until I heard back from "Odd" with the details and location"
"It's next to a big shed/workshop right by the road in a place called "Three Holes",
not long before you wind your way into Upwell, Cambridgeshire.
If you come up the road from Littleport, via Welney,
you can't miss it on your left, just before the turn left to March
(NOT the cross roads but the one after that).
As far as I know it's still all there"
All 3 sightings must be within 5km of each other, which
is strange in itself as whilst I owned and drove my Ashley in the 1960's
I never saw another Ashley on the road
but here 3 turn up in the same area spread over a 45 year period,
all very strange.
